Dear Parents/Carers,

The combined takings of our gate and online collections on Red Nose Day and Year 5’s amazing charity sale were a phenomenal £891.48!  Thanks to all who donated and in particular to Year 5 pupils, families and staff who made the sale possible – an excellent result!

On Monday, our school choir took part in the Cardiff & Vale Music Service First Experiences Festival.  It was a wonderful experience for the choir members and the audience alike.  Many thanks to Mrs Wilkinson and parents/carers for helping to make things happen and to those of you who attended.  Well done Lakeside Choir!

Year 5 pupils took part in a debating competition in Howells School this week. We are delighted to share that the Lakeside team came overall third in the competition, with one pupil winning the Best Runner-Up Speaker Award and another winning the Best Questioner of the Competition.  Well done to those who took part and thank you to their parents/carers and Mrs Vanstone and Mrs Tanner.

Year 6 pupils entered the Rotary Club of Llanishen’s ‘Colin Baber Award - Primary Schools Essay Competition’.  Many primary schools enter this competition and we’re very proud to announce that one of our Year 6 pupils has received an award for coming 3rd overall out of all the entries.  Well done to her!

Ramadan

I hope that you are having a peaceful and reflective Ramadan. Just a reminder that if you would like your child to fast during the school day, please send a letter to your child’s class teacher.  Please also include in your letter your wishes about drinking water, and if you are sending snacks in with your child in case they need to break their fast.  Thank you.

Parents’/Carers’ Consultations: week beginning Monday 27th March (Reception to Year 6)

Thank you for signing up to a slot to meet with your child’s class teacher.  Staff will be available to welcome you to school and show you where to go.  Reception to Year 2 parents please come to the school’s main entrance; Years 3 to 6, please come to the KS2 entrance. Please note that appointments are strictly limited to ten minutes per pupil to ensure the smooth running of the evening.  Thank you.

Personalised Assessments for pupils

If parents/carers of pupils in Years 3 to 6 would like to access your child’s individual feedback from their Welsh Government personal assessments, these are available electronically via your child’s Hwb account.    To access Hwb, go to www.hwb.gov.wales/.  You will need to log in with your child’s details, click on the Personalised Assessments tab, then Learner Feedback.  The feedback is in the form of interactive PDF files where you will find examples of the types of questions your child got right and ones that they had difficulty with.

A guide to Welsh Government test results can be accessed here, if needed:
