Dear Parents/Carers,
NSPCC Number Day Friday 7th May “Dress up for digits”
There was a wonderful atmosphere on the gate this morning, with children and staff dressed up for Number Day. We find that everybody always enjoys these school-wide events. It seems to connect us all to each other, which is obviously even more important at a time we can’t mix with each other in the usual ways. Thank you yet again Lakeside Families for supporting this worthy cause and making this such a successful fundraiser. We raised £329.47 !!

Eid Thursday 13th May
We wish all our families who are celebrating Eid al-Fitr next week Eid Mubarak. Please let us know if your child / children will not be attending school that day as you celebrate as a family. Mrs Williams will be making a comeback next week with a special story, all about Eid, that will be shared on the school website.
Nursery Polling Day
Nursery staff were busy in the nursery garden whilst the council used the building as a Polling Station. Thank you to Mrs Goddard and her team for working hard planting, digging and ‘wrapping’ the trees with the colourful knitting many of you did earlier on in the year.
Welsh Government Updates
We regularly receive guidance from the Welsh Government and the Local Authority on changes to our Covid risk assessments. Although cases in Wales are low at the moment, there is no reduction in the vigilance around cleaning, social distancing, hand washing and mask wearing in school.
As more local activities begin to open up, we are awaiting further clarity around whether local school visits, for example, a walk around the local area can take place. If your child is attending any clubs outside of school at the moment, please remember to inform the school of any Covid related issues that arise. Thank you.
Parking
Alongside our Active Travel Plan, please remember to park safely when dropping off or picking up your children. I would particularly politely ask that you do not park on pavements where children are using the pavements outside school.
Class photos
Colorfoto will be coming into school on Wednesday 26th May to take class photos. Please can children make sure they are wearing school uniform that day. Thank you
Covid Symptoms
A reminder of the extended Covid symptoms information from Test, Trace, Protect Wales. The three main symptoms remain the same (NEW, PERSISTENT COUGH, FEVER, LOSS OF TASTE/SMELL) and require a PCR test and isolation of the sufferer and household until a negative test is received. The extended symptoms do not require either the sufferer or their household to isolate, but a test is recommended to rule out Covid if any of the symptoms are present. The ‘extended symptoms’ are: FATIGUE, ACHES & PAINS, SORE THROAT, HEADACHE, RUNNY NOSE, NAUSEA, VOMITING or DIARRHOEA. If a positive test result is received the usual rules apply regarding isolation of sufferer and members of their household.
Term dates and Insets Days
Best wishes and have a lovely weekend,
