Parentmail 26.4.24
Dear Parents/Carers,
It was a pleasure to welcome Reception parents and carers to the sharing session this week. Another lovely session in which the pupils could share their work and experiences, and parents/carers could spend time finding out what their children have been learning.
We look forward to the final two sharing sessions next week: Year 6 on Tuesday and Year 3 on Thursday. As always, please come to the Key Stage 2 entrance gate for 9.30am.
PTA: School Uniforms
The PTA have preloved uniforms available at school today – near the Winnie the Pooh Garden. Come and have a look if you need something.
PTA Seed and Book Sale
Thanks again to all involved in the PTA Seed and Book Sale. The event raised £256.58. We look forward to seeing your seedlings in a few weeks, and hope for some prize-winning specimens!

Dear Parents/Carers,
It’s been very nice to see so many of you in school for your teacher consultations this week and thank you to families who joined us for the Year 2 and Year 4 sharing sessions which were informative, enjoyable and musical. There are three sessions left: Reception next week (April 24th), Year 6 on April 30th and Year 3 on 2nd May.
We were all disappointed that we had to cancel the Reception and Year 1 trips on Monday due to the high winds and rain, but the good news is that the Reception trip to Barry Island is now going ahead on Monday and the Year 1 trip has been rescheduled to Monday 13th May.
PTA Seed and Book Sale
It was wonderful to see so many of you at the PTA Seed and Book Sale today. There were several tables of high-quality books available for sale, alongside lots of different types of seeds. There was compost for sale, face painting and bee-related items like book-markers. In the Winnie the Pooh Garden, PTA members were showing children and parents how to plant their seeds. The sun was shining and it was a lovely event. Thank you for all your donations of children’s books and Kinder egg pods and also a huge thank you to Pugh’s Garden Centre in Radyr for their generous donation of compost for the sale. Finally, thank you so much to the PTA for this lovely event. We look forward to seeing all the flowers and vegetables that you grow!
Lost Property
The Lakeside Citizens have made a funny video about the Lost Property in school – you can view it via the link and using the password in the emailed version of this Parentmail. Please remember to check the Lost Property section of the website for any mislaid items. Thank you.
Food Bank
We received a lovely letter from Emmanuel Baptist Church Food Bank, as follows:
Dear Mrs Mitchell and the families of Lakeside Primary, Thank you so much for your kind donation to our church foodbank! We are overwhelmed by your generosity; the items you gave are things we are always short of and we want you to know that you are helping so many families and individuals who are going through difficult times at the moment. With our appreciation, Emmanuel Church Foodbank Team.
I join them in thanking you for your generosity in all our fundraising efforts here at Lakeside.
Year 3 Appeal
I have received an appeal from Year 3 pupils for items that they would like for their classes and the outdoor area. They asked me to ask families if they have any of the items listed below that they no longer use, and could donate please.
The list: small bean bags, musical instruments, dressing-up clothes. Pretend money, food, tea set, plates, cutlery, a medical bag, construction bricks (all sizes) and kitchen items. Arts & crafts, Lego/Duplo, chalk, loom bands and a sand tray. Skipping ropes, ankle skippers, frisbees, hula hoops, cup-and-ball sets and soft cricket equipment. Flowers/plants/gardening area items and board games.
Thank you in advance on behalf of Year 3.

We wish all who are celebrating Vaisakhi over this weekend an enjoyable celebration. Here’s a link to a video about this festival made by Mrs Williams and one of our pupils https://lakeside-primary-school-cardiff.primarysite.media/media/vaisakhi-story
