PTA news

A PTA meeting took place on Friday morning and many thanks to those who attended.  It was especially nice to welcome new parents/carers to the group.  We can look forward to another fun-packed year of PTA events, which start today with a Cake Sale in aid of the DEC Appeals.  We look forward to seeing you there!

As there are several new parents/carers who have joined the school and the PTA, here’s a reminder of what the PTA did last year.  The video is in the process of being updated with recent PTA-funded additions – watch this space!

PTA Spooks and Sparkles Disco Thursday 26th October

Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 Disco is at 5pm till 5.45pm

Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 Disco is 6pm till 7pm

First Aid training for parents – Nursery to Year 2

Thank you to Lisa Williams, paramedic and St John Ambulance trainer, for delivering two Child and Infant First Aid Awareness sessions for parents/carers of pupils in Nursery, Reception, Years 1 and 2.  She also delivered training sessions in both Year 6 classes on ‘DRS ABC’: Danger, Response and ‘Shout!’, then Airway, Breathing and Circulation. They also practised putting someone into the recovery position and how to do CPR and use a defibrillator.  Thank you to Lisa and St John Ambulance for making this possible.

St John’s Ambulance Non-uniform Day – Friday 29^th September

Thank you to all of you for joining in our St John Ambulance fundraiser by sending your children to school in casual clothes and donating on the gate.  An excellent £343.43 was raised!  Thank you for your generosity.

Harvest celebration: Wednesday 4^th October

From Monday 2^nd October, we are collecting donations of non-perishable food for a food bank as part of this year’s harvest celebration.  Below is a list of preferred items, but all non-perishable donations are welcome.  Following our Harvest assembly, members of the School Council in Years 5 and 6 will deliver the donations to the food bank.  Thank you in advance for your generosity.

NASAL SPRAY FLU VACCINE

Please complete the e-consent form for your child if they are in Reception to Year 6. There is an option to refuse the Spray Vaccine if you wish as well.  If they have not received consent by Wednesday 4^th October, they will not be able to administer it.  The letter is attached with the link/QR code in case you have missed it.

Curriculum meetings

Thank you to parents/carers for attending our year group meetings to date.  Only one remains: the Reception Reading meeting, which is on Friday 6^th October at 2.30pm in the Small Hall.

Mental Health Day and Shwmae Day

The week after next – 9^th – 13^th October, we have two dressing-up days at Lakeside! 

Tuesday 10^th October pupils and staff are invited to Wear Yellow for Mental Health and will be collecting donations for Bronwen’s Wish, a charity very close to our hearts here at Lakeside and which is financing the Wellbeing Pod being built in the school grounds at the moment. 

Then, on Friday 13^th, we will celebrate Shwmae Day by wearing red or anything Welsh and enjoying some Welsh-themed activities provided by our Criw Cymraeg pupil group.

Children in Need – Friday 17^th November

This is a non-uniform day and pupils and staff are invited to come to school with CRAZY HAIR!!!
